About Me

Food is one of my many joys in life. It is a common bond I share among my friends and family. Combining food and travel makes it all the more interesting. I enjoy going out for a good meal with friends and family. The array of various cuisines and our fantastic array of produce really makes Sydney such a great city to live in. Blogging is my hobby and my posts on restaurant meals I have had are paid for and not gratis. Any gratis provided to me will always be stated beforehand.

Sakura Kaiten Sushi (Melbourne CBD)

I think I have said before that sometimes unplanned things turn out to be delightful surprises! Well, this dinner at a little sushi bar in one of the little lanes in Melbourne was a surprise hit!

Sakura Kaiten Sushi is located on Little Collins Street closer to the Parliament end of town. We had no plans on where to dine so we just walked and walked and over time DD must have had a idea of where to go and we slowly but surely headed to this tiny sushi bar that was packed to the rafters!

I wasn't even planning on blogging about it as I wanted a night off and was feeling slightly stressed about the next day's big demo. But I couldn't help myself, the food looked good, it was packed and obviously very popular. So the blogger in me succumbed and out came my camera! :)

Unfortunately as we did not book we did not get seats at the actual bar but had a side table instead, thus the bad lighting of my photos! :(

Grilled salmon

Soft shell crab roll

Edamame

Salmon with lobster

Tuna sashimi

Tuna flower tobikko

Salmon with seafood

Pan fried gyoza

Teriyaki salmon

I am so glad we had the chance to try such a variety. The food was surprisingly delicious, light, fresh and authentic. I was happy with every dish and glad we didn't have disappointing doozies!

Hard to pick a favourite but if I had to I would say dibs on the Salmon with lobster and Soft shell crab roll! I can see why this place is so popular.

Haha compulsion to photograph food before you eat it and it's gone forever is definitely a sign of foodblogger-itis :) I know that feeling all too well!

Hi Helen, it's a hard compulsion to clamp down! :)
