About Me

Food is one of my many joys in life. It is a common bond I share among my friends and family. Combining food and travel makes it all the more interesting. I enjoy going out for a good meal with friends and family. The array of various cuisines and our fantastic array of produce really makes Sydney such a great city to live in. Blogging is my hobby and my posts on restaurant meals I have had are paid for and not gratis. Any gratis provided to me will always be stated beforehand.

Landreth & Co

Sorry for this old posting but I am still trying to catch up on my various activities when I was in Auckland in the past few weeks. I am now back in Sydney but am slowly but surely posting blogs on my various foodie adventures when I was in Auckland.

This posting is about the brunches I have had at Landreth & Co. It is another cafe located in Ponsonby and I really like the breakfast options available. Their coffee is quite good too. I have been here a couple of times and will return when I am next in Auckland.

My friend DD had the gingerbread pancakes. There was pear and anise compote and golden honey ice cream served with the pancakes. He has had it numerous times previously and really loves it. It does look yummy.

I had the trufflled eggs with mushrooms. It tastes like scrambled eggs with some truffle oil drizzled in it. I did like it but I think their scrambled eggs (which I had before) is much nicer.

So the next time you are in Auckland and want to try out some nice breakfast/brunch, do try this cafe out.

Easter Sunday

Happy Easter everyone! I am constantly reminded of how blessed we are and Easter Sunday is one such occasion that I believe we should be celebrating with joy.

I was lucky enough to celebrate Easter with some very dear friends of mine and we had a fusion lunch. Roast pork (European style) and fried rice (Oriental style) and some roasted sweet potatoes. Dessert was blueberry twirl cheesecake. How was my lunch? Shall I say I was so full of food and sweets. The meal was delightful and so was the company.

Mondial

Mondial is a Spanish tapas bar located in the suburb of Grey Lynn. This was an exciting find as we did want to try out hip restaurants with good food at affordable prices. My friend (DD) checked out some blogs and we decided to try Mondial out. There is a no booking policy so it was sheer luck that we did not have to wait to get a couple of seats at the bar.

The restaurant was full and had a very hip buzz. The bartender was constantly busy serving drinks. I really liked the vibe.

We decided to have our meal at the bar as it would take a while to wait for a seated table. Our selection was Chicken liver parfait with Crostini, Prawns with garlic and chilli, Grilled Chorizo with onion jam and the special of the day Poisson Cru with Snapper.

I have to say the favourite dish was the special of the day. The Poisson Cru was delicious, there were subtle flavours of the milk and crunchy cucumbers with tender snapper infused with the milk. The second favourite was the chicken liver parfait. The crostinis worked really well with the liver parfait. The chorizo tasted like the authentic chorizos from Spain, not the version that we typically see at the supermarkets and most delis. The garlic prawns were a little disappointing, the garlic flavour was not strong enough.

In general, I really enjoyed the meal and I will definitely return if given the opportunity.
