About Me

Food is one of my many joys in life. It is a common bond I share among my friends and family. Combining food and travel makes it all the more interesting. I enjoy going out for a good meal with friends and family. The array of various cuisines and our fantastic array of produce really makes Sydney such a great city to live in. Blogging is my hobby and my posts on restaurant meals I have had are paid for and not gratis. Any gratis provided to me will always be stated beforehand.

Landreth & Co Take 2

When I am in Auckland, one of my favourite breakfast hangouts is Landreth & Co. I have posted about Landreth & Co previously but I wanted to post about their well known Gingerbread pancakes. Normally I like to have a savoury breakfast but I decided to go for gold and try these out.

Gingerbread pancakes
These are served with bacon, pear and anise compote, strawberries and golden syrup ice cream. Don't they look tempting and delicious?

Anyway, I did finish it all and it lasted me the whole day until dinner time. I would say to anyone who wants to try out Landreth & Co, please consider the ginerbread pancakes.

Landreth & Co

Sorry for this old posting but I am still trying to catch up on my various activities when I was in Auckland in the past few weeks. I am now back in Sydney but am slowly but surely posting blogs on my various foodie adventures when I was in Auckland.

This posting is about the brunches I have had at Landreth & Co. It is another cafe located in Ponsonby and I really like the breakfast options available. Their coffee is quite good too. I have been here a couple of times and will return when I am next in Auckland.

My friend DD had the gingerbread pancakes. There was pear and anise compote and golden honey ice cream served with the pancakes. He has had it numerous times previously and really loves it. It does look yummy.

I had the trufflled eggs with mushrooms. It tastes like scrambled eggs with some truffle oil drizzled in it. I did like it but I think their scrambled eggs (which I had before) is much nicer.

So the next time you are in Auckland and want to try out some nice breakfast/brunch, do try this cafe out.

Agnes Curran

The weather is Auckland is rather miserable this week-end. It has been wet, grey and very windy. It is a day you would want to stay in and read a good book or watch a movie.

However, my friend (DD) and I still managed to trek ourselves (by car) over to Ponsonby for what is becoming something of a week-end ritual, i.e. brunch at Ponsonby. This time we decided to visit a cafe we had been to previously, Agnes Curran. The first time I was there, which was a few weeks ago, it was a delightful find but I did not have my camera with me then. So this time, with my trusty camera, we had another round of food.

Order of the day was our standard coffee (they really know how to make a good cup of coffee). On top of that I had a passionfruit and white chocolate cheesecake. DD had a lamington with jam and cream. Both were very nice. I believe that so far in our search for the best cups of coffee in Auckland city, Agnes Curran is the front runner.

I was initially hesitant about my order but I was assured that the cheesecake is not as rich as it looked. So I did try it out and it was moist and full of passionfruit flavour. The white chocolate was not overwhelmingly sweet.

By the way, DD enjoyed the lamington. I had a bit of it, it was very light and fluffy. Would I recommend fellow travellers to Auckland to try out Agnes Curran. Absolutely!

Brunch at Ponsonby No. 1

I decided to name this posting as Brunch No. 1 as I have been trying out various cafes during week-ends in Auckland. A few week-ends ago, I visited the suburb of Ponsonby. This is an inner city suburb of Auckland. It is known as a hip and trendy suburb (real estate in this suburb can be quite expensive). The well known street is Ponsonby Road and there are loads of restaurants and cafes along this road.

So my friend (DD) and I randomly chose one of the cafes for brunch. I ordered free range scrambled eggs on toast with grilled mushrooms and a cappuccino. Did I enjoy my brunch? Yes I did! The cafe was packed by the way, that is a good sign when venturing in for the first time.

I really must make the effort to remember restaurant/cafe names now that I have started a blog. I think the cafe was called Bambina.

Ponsonby reminds me of Mosman but it is a hipper suburb. I took a couple of photos around Ponsonby. Here they are.
